Belgium's Wilm Vermeir and the 12-year-old stallion Joyride S (Toulon x Pachat II) took the win in Friday's CSI4* 1.50m Prix Ville de Saint-Lô et Saint-Lô Agglo at Jumping International de Saint-Lô, France.
Only five horse-and-rider combinations – out of the 57 in the class – cleared the first round and qualified for the jump-off. Three of them repeated their clean sheets, with Vermeir being the fastest when stopping the clock at 34.67 seconds. Alexandra Paillot (FRA) with Tonio La Goutelle (Ogrion des Champs x El Paso Platiere) needed just a little bit longer around the shortened course to take the runner-up position in 34.80 seconds. Third place went to Cyril Bouvard (FRA) and Broceliande du Lac (Rock’N Roll Semilly x Persan II) after a double clear in 36.46 seconds.
The French riders completed the top five, with Alix Ragot and Coldplay EJ (Zilverstar T x Kashmir van’t Schuttershof) taking fourth after getting four faults in the jump-off, while Margaux Rocuet and Dubai du Cedre (Baloubet du Rouet x Diamant de Semilly) got 12 faults in the jump-off and had to settle for the fifth place.
Three riders followed with only one time penalty from the first round – Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) with Miro (Diamant de Semilly x Kannan), José Thiry (BEL) with Jalisco W van de Wolvenhoek (Vivaldi du Seigneur x unkown) and Marie Demonte (FRA) with Las Vegas Vd Padenborre (Calvaro F.C. x Diamant de Semilly).
