Dermott Lennon and Athletix Hero Z win the first CSI4* 1.50m Big Tour at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour 2022

It was an Irish victory at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour on Thursday as Dermott Lennon (IRL) and Athletix Hero Z (Aganix du Seigneur x Radco D'Houtveld) kicked off the CSI4* Big Tour with a win in the 1.50m speed class. Coming in at the beginning of the class, the former World Champion and his 10-year-old gelding delivered a clear, fast round in the stunning David Broome grass arena to set the time to beat at 60.67 seconds over the course designed by Elio Travagliatti.

Home rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar (ESP) and Full Option Van’t Zand (Flamingo K x Lord Z) stopped the clock in 62.24 seconds to take the runner-up position, while two Belgian riders followed in third and fourth: Gilles Thomas with Luna Van Het Dennehof (Prince van de Wolfsakker x Quidam de Revel) in 62.44 seconds,  and Gudrun Patteet in 62.74 with Sea Coast Pebbles Z (Picasso x Flamenco de Semilly). Kendra Claricia Brinkop (GER) and Malissa de Muze (Vigo D Arsouilles Stx x For Pleasure) finished fifth, with a time of 63.66 seconds.

In the Hickstead grass arena, Olivier Perreau (FRA) and GL Events Dolce Deceuninck (Toulon x Cartier van de Heffinck) went to the top in the CSI4* 1.45m Medium Tour after stopping the clock at 65.03 seconds. In second place followed Aurelia Loser (SUI) and Anaba Haize (Ravage de Mars x C Indoctro II) in 65.75, while Kendra Claricia Brinkop took the third place riding Narcos VD Smidshoeve (Toulon x Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) to a time of 65.90 seconds.
