Longines FEI World Cup Final 2014
All together for the group photo; the competitors in the 2014 Longines FEI World Cup Final in Lyon. Photos (c) Jenny Abrahamsson.
On Monday it will be clear who will win this trophy.
A happy Pius Schwizer won the first leg on Quidam du Vivier.
Michael Whitaker had the difficult task of opening the ball on Viking, but the British veteran did a great round.
Defending champions Beezie Madden and Simon had to see the back pole of the oxer at eight fall to the ground - and is currently in 12th position after the first leg has been ridden.
It looked quite dramatic as Andrius Petrovas and Complemento parted ways at the oxer at eight, but luckily both rider and horse seemed to be fine afterwards.
What a horse! Nougat du Vallet jumped fantastic with Katie Dinan in the saddle - but like many others they had the back pole at this oxer on 11c down out of the triple to be in the current position of 24.
Luciana Diniz and Fit For Fun rank thirteen after a first clear round in Lyon.
Kent Farrington gave it a go on Blue Angel, but the b-element in the combination at four hit the ground and the American rider is currently in rank 18.
Leslie Burr-Howard was very happy after her clear round on Tic Tac.
World number one Scott Brash and Ursula XII had the maximum unluck as the final vertical fell to the ground, putting them as number eleven on the ranking.
Hopes were high for home rider Kevin Staut, but unfortunately the front pole on the oxer at ten fell to the ground for him and Silvana putting them as rank 17 overall at this point.
It was Quidam du Vivier's first international win; talk about timing!
