Julien Epaillard (FRA) and the 10-year-old mare Caracole de La Roque (Zandor Z x Kannan) were the fastest in Friday's CSI5*-W 1.50m Trofeo Ciudad de Madrid at Madrid Horse Week, racing to the win in a time of 55.25 seconds – which none of the 46 other competitors came close to matching.
The second place went to Denis Lynch (IRL) and GC Chopin's Bushi (Contendro II x Nairobi) with a time of 57.86, while Ben Maher (GBR) and Exit Remo (San Remo x Ferro) finished third in 60.15 seconds. Daniel Deusser (GER) and Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One d'Iso x Diamant de Semilly) finished fourth in 60.44, and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) fifth in 61.49 aboard D'Orient Batilly (Numero Uno x Quaprice Boimargot Qunicy).
Earlier in the day, Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) took the top honours in the 1.45m class presented by ¡HOLA!. Riding Nikolaj de Music (Kannan x Nabab de Reve), Gaudiano stopped the clock at 48.90, with Epaillard following behind in 49.43 with Donatello d'Auge (Jarnac x Hello Pierville) to finish second. The third place went to Robin Muhr (ISR) and Baccarat Meniljean (Diamant de Semilly x Dollar du Murier) with a time of 49.86.
