The 2023-edition of the Morocco Royal Tour concluded with the third and last leg in El Jadida this weekend, and Sunday's CSI4*-W 1.55m World Cup Grand Prix was the closing competition where Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano and Nikolaj de Music (Kannan x Nabab de Reve, bred by Walter Lelie) took the win after a jump-off between eleven horse-and-rider-combinations.
Stopping the clock on 32.00, Gaudiano and the 10-year-old Nikolaj de Music took the win ahead of Cyril Cools (BEL) and Milton Z (Mylord Carthago x Sandro Boy, bred by Freek Hoogenboom) in second in 33.89. Olivier Robert (FRA) and Careca LS Elite (Carusso Ls La Silla x Rebozo La Silla, bred by Rodrigo Padilla Olvera) placed third in 34.24, while Jerome Guery (BEL) and Enjoy d'Elle (Kannan x Carthago Z, bred by EARL Haras d'Eole) finished fourth in 35.02 and Barbara Schnieper (SUI) and Canice (Cascadello I x Cornet Obolensky, bred by Wolfgang Brinkmann) fifth in 35.24.
“I've won fewer classes here than in Tetouan: Just one victory, but it's the right one," the happy winner said in a press release from Morocco Royal Tour. "In nine participations in the Morocco Royal Tour, I'd never won a Grand Prix and this year I've won two! I like coming here because of the appreciable weather at this time of year, because of the welcome from the Moroccans as well, but of course for the technical quality of the three stages, the ground and the choice of the course designers. In any case, I was right to come this year."
