Leopold van Asten made the Dutch proud when winning Friday night's 1.55m Massimo Dutti Trophy at CSI5* -W La Coruña. This familiar winning face at Casas Novas, who in 2014 won the Grand Prix at both the summer and winter edition of the event, rode VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (Chacco-Blue x Aldatus) in the last competition of the evening. An impeccable and speedy round in 67.44 seconds served Van Asten his victory. What a great end to the year for the Dutchman, who was second in the Grand Prix at CSI4 * Maastricht in November.
For the second time of the day, Olivier Robert (FRA) found the centre stage out of his reach and this time he had to settle for runner-up position after finishing in 67.53 seconds with Vivaldi des Meneaux (Chippendale Z x Bamako x). Finally, Alberto Zorzi (ITA) took third place with Cinsey (Contendro I x For Pleasure) after stopping the clock at 67.73 seconds.
In the first five-star class of the day, the 1.45m NH Collection Trophy, the British anthem rang twice. Robert Whitaker on Dekato (Upgrade x Stakkato) beat Guy Williams on Rouge de Ravel (Ultimo van Ter Moude x Quouglof Rouge) by 0.51 seconds. In third followed Olivier Robert on Eros (Querlybet Hero x Forever).
