A wildcard needs to be something very special; The Youngsters Auction adds an extraordinary horse to the collection for the auction on Tuesday 23 November 2021. Meet the 3-year-old gelding Nou En; a son of the promising sire Ibolensky out of a dam by Numero Uno. “Unlike the other auction horses, Nou En is already presented under saddle. With his natural balance and fantastic jumping talent we believe he can be a very exciting prospect”, Peter van der Waaij states on behalf of The Youngsters Auction.

Although all the 3-year-old auction horses are presented by loose jumping, for Nou En the auction has made an exception. “Our other auction horses are mostly homebred or home raised and did not start their work under saddle yet, but Nou En has been in the stables of a good friend of us and he shows some exceptional talent under saddle.”

‘The full package’

The only 3-year-old gelding Nou En already shows an outstanding rideability, fantastic mindset and an excellent balance. “When you look at him, you think he is 5 or even 6 years old. His balance and his rideability is really remarkable and his jumping talent speaks for itself. Nou En shows scope, technique, intelligence – he has got the full package.”

For the 2021 edition, The Youngsters Auction fully focusses on a collection of 3-year-olds; in the past three edition, many talents were sold as a 3-year-old. A great example is the now 5-year-old Leicester, who became the Norwegian champion with Ada Braaten and is now in the stables of Olympic medalist Cian O’Connor. “I look at hundreds of horses every month, but I don’t see too many with the characteristics of Leicester. I am certain he will become a top Grand Prix horse”, Cian O’Connor states about Leicester (Harley VDL x Verdi).

“I saw Leicester in Norway, where he was ridden and produced by Ada Braaten”, Cian O’Connor begins. “Her mother Nina Braaten produced Blue Loyd, the horse I rode in the London Olympics, so I have known the family for a long time. At first, they were reluctant to sell Leicester, but he is such a special horse that I was persistent to buy him.”

‘He ticks off all the boxes’

For Olympic bronze medallist Cian O’Connor, Leicester is a horse that has got it all. “Leicester is one of the most exciting young horses I have seen for many years. He has brilliant rideability, huge scope, is incredibly careful and has got a fantastic balance – he literally ticks off all the boxes. I am always looking for top horses, but I haven’t found many better than him for a long, long time”, Cian O’Connor concludes.
