Bertram Allen has announced the retirement of his success horse Molly Malone V.
“We have decided to announce the retirement of my long-time partner and friend, Molly Malone, at the age of 15. Molly propelled me to the top of the sport at a very young age and for that, I will be eternally grateful! We now look forward to the future where Molly will enter a new era of her career as a breeding mare! Thank you, everyone, for following us throughout our career! A special thank you to Marlen Schannwell who has been with her on every step of our incredible journey!” reads the statement from Allen.
Together, Allen and Molly Malone V have won countless of classes all over the world such as the CSIO5* Grand Prix of Dublin in 2014, the CSIO5* Grand Prix of Lummen in 2014, the CSI5* Longines FEI World Cup in Verona in 2014, the CSI5* Grand Prix of Dinard in 2015 and the CSI3* Grand Prix of Twente in 2015 as well as recording big victories in Barcelona, Doha, Hamburg, Monaco, Stockholm, Treffen and Paris. The pair also finished third at the Longines FEI World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2015, and represented Ireland at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014 and at the European Championships in Aachen in 2015.
