Germany's Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann has acquired the 11-year-old Zangersheide gelding Equine America Verdiamo Z (Verdi TN x Andiamo) from Belgium's Jordy Van Massenhove.
Van Massenhove and Verdiamo Z made their last international appearance together at the CSI5*-W show in Leipzig in January, placing 13th in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup. At the CSI5*-W show in Basel at the beginning of January, the pair placed 11th in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup and 8th in the Longines Grand Prix.
"We have had Verdiamo Z since he was born, and I have been riding him since he was saddle broken," Van Massenhove told World of Showjumping about Verdiamo Z. "He showed a lot of talent as a young horse and there was interest in him already back then, but we wanted to keep him. I feel lucky to have jumped my first five-star Grand Prix classes and World Cups with him, and he has not knocked down one pole in any of them. As a rider, selling a horse like Verdiamo is difficult. However, I believe that with a rider like Janne, he will get a proper chance to show how good he really is, as in Belgium, it is very difficult to get into the big shows for me. For me, the most important thing is the fact that Verdiamo goes to someone like Janne, who is a part of a strong team; I believe Verdiamo really deserves that – he has all the quality."
On her official Instagram account, Meyer-Zimmerman announced Verdiamo Z’s arrival and wrote: "Welcome Verdiamo! I’m excited to get to know you and hope you feel comfortable in your new home @hofwaterkant.official! Thank you to our friends and owners that made this new partnership possible!"
