Ludger Beerbaum has announced that Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet x I Love You) has passed away, at the age of 20. The stallion left peacefully, while in his box. "I have very emotional memories with Chaman," Beerbaum states on his website. "He was easy and very nice to ride."

Chaman was retired from the sport at the age of 18, after a long and successful career. The retirement ceremony took place at Ludger’s own stables, in Riesenbeck, Germany.

After forming a partnership back in 2010, Beerbaum and Chaman recorded countless of major victories together: Aachen, San Patrignano, Wiesbaden. Dortmund, Valkenswaard, Münster, Rio, Basel, Zürich, Paris, Gothenburg, Lyon, Lausanne and Stuttgart were among some of the venues where the two were unbeatable over the years. In total, Chaman won 1,8 million Euro in prize money during his career.

Our thoughts go out to Ludger and his team, and all those close to Chaman.
