The organisers of Gothenburg Horse Show have today announced that they have been forced to cancel the 2022-edition of the event due to the current Covid restrictions in Sweden. The event, which was meant to run from February 24 to 27, should also have hosted a Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ qualifier.

In a press release, show director Tomas Torgersen said: “We have considered every possible alternative, but unfortunately, this is the only decision we can arrive at. We are truly saddened to do so. We were so looking forward seeing our audience again and to give them the Scandinavium experience of greeting their Olympic team on home turf, but out of respect for our partners, suppliers, riders, officials and audience members, we can delay this decision no longer. Gothenburg Horse Show is close to so many people’s hearts, and we want to thank everyone for their support and understanding.”

The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Western European League 2021/2022 season has already been reduced to six legs after Helsinki (FIN), Stuttgart (GER), Mechelen (BEL), Amsterdam (NED), Basel (SUI) and Bordeaux (FRA) all cancelled their events due to Covid restrictions. Ahead of the final in Leipzig (GER) in April, the only qualifier left in the calendar for the Western European League 2021/2022-season was Gothenburg.
