Spain's Mariano Martinez Bastida and Belano vd Wijnhoeve Z (Berlin x Darco) bested a field of fifty horse-and-rider combinations in Sunday's CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix Longines de la Région Normandie in Deauville, France.

Aboard the 14-year-old gelding, the Spanish rider delivered one of only six clear rounds to move on to the jump-off where he was the fastest with his 39.98 seconds. USA's Laura Kraut and the 16-year-old Confu (Contact me x Cambridge) finished second with a time of 41.23 in the jump-off, followed by Chile's Alexandr Imschenetzky and Caspaccio (Cassini II x Carpaccio) in third after the clock stopped on 44.15 for the pair who produced the last double clear of the Grand Prix.

Home rider Julien Anquetin finished best on behalf of the host nation, taking fourth aboard Gravity of Greenhill (Nabab de Reve x Conterno-Grande) with four faults in the jump-off. Completing the top five were Switzerland's Timo Heiniger and Don (Don Diarado x Sion), also with four faults over the shortened track.
