In the children division, nine horse-and-rider combinations went into Sunday's final at the European Championships in Vilamoura, Portugal, with a score of zero and no less than five of them managed to stay on a clean sheet to create an exciting jump-off for the medals.
Best of all was Hungary's Gyula Szuhai Jr. and the 9-year-old gelding Perthy Jackson (Casall x Dobel's Cento) who brought home the gold medal after finishing on a zero-penalty score and a time of 30.43 in the jump-off. Silver went to Finland's Hugo Kogelnig on Vermont 2 (Valentino x Fly High), also clear all the way and with a time of 30.72 seconds. Czech rider Anna Marie Vitek and Chacco's Amke (Chacco-Blue x Silvio I) took the bronze medal with four faults in the jump-off and a time of 28.36 seconds.
