Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos continues to support Sergio Alvarez Moya. After having acquired the 8-year-old mare Eliante Z (Ermindo W x Namelus R) for Alvarez Moya, Ramos has in partnership with the Spanish rider now bought the 2019 World Cup Champion Alamo (Ukato x Equador). “It’s a privilege to welcome a horse like Alamo, and once again I would like to thank Sergio Ramos for his support,” Alvarez Moya comments to World of Showjumping. “I’ll start showing Alamo in Oliva in a couple of weeks.”

With Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat in the saddle, the now 13-year-old gelding won the 2018 Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Geneva and the 2019 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Gothenburg. The pair also won five-star Grand Prix classes in Helsinki and Waregem during their time together. At the beginning of 2020, Guerdat and Alamo parted ways when the gelding returned to his owner Gerardo Pasquel Mendez who competed him in Mexico and the US. In September 2020, Israel’s Daniel Bluman took over the reins – picking up top-three finishes at 1.50m level with the gelding. In January, Bluman announced that Alamo would return to Pasquel Mendez. Now, Alamo moves on to fly the Spanish colours.
