Friday morning's CSI5*-W 1.45m Prize of Defender at the 2024-edition of Longines CHI Classics Basel went to home hero Pius Schwizer (SUI) and the 15-year-old AK's Courage (Chepetto C x Lennon, bred by Birgit Deeken-Künnemann).
With a time of 29.84 in the second phase, Schwizer took the win ahead of Kevin Jochems (NED) and Casillas van de Helle (Casall x San Patrignano Corrado, bred by Dr. Konrad Bartjen) who stopped the clock on 30.65. Thibeau Spits (BEL) and King van Essene (Calido I x Chacco Blue, bred by Carlos De Cock) placed third in 30.69, while Denis Lynch (IRL) and Vistogrand (Fantaland x Mr Visto, bred by Carron Nicol) finished fourth in 31.30, followed by Steve Guerdat (SUI) aboard Lancelotta (Falkenhof's Lancer x Orlando, bred by Gestüt Zhashkow) in fifth in 31.59.
