The 2023/2024 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League has moved on to Leipzig, Germany, for the 11th leg of the season and it was France's Julien Anquetin and Blood Diamond du Pont (Diamant de Semilly x Arpege Pierreville) that topped Friday's CSI5*-W 1.55m €105,00 competition against the clock – a class counting for the Longines Ranking Group B – which was also a qualifier for Sunday's Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™.

With a time of 58.58 seconds, Anquetin took the win ahead of Germany's very own Hans-Dieter Dreher and Vestamalle des Cotis (Baloubet du Rouet x Landor S) – separated by 1.93 seconds. "I will first try to get a few more World Cup-points on Sunday and then I'll have all the remaining World Cup legs on the plan," Anquetin said in a press release from Partner Pferd Leipzig. "I really want to try to collect enough points for the final with my two top horses.”

“I saw most of the other riders, especially Julien," second placed Dreher said in a press release from Partner Pferd Leipzig. "I knew he was very fast and had a really fast horse. Already in the turn to jump number five he had less strides than me and again to the penultimate jump. Today there were also the two left turns in which I lost time."

Peder Fredricson (SWE) and SV Vroom de La Pomme Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Untouchable) placed third in 61.21, while Jana Wargers (GER) and Dorette (Dollar du Murier x Fighting Alpha) finished fourth in 61.51, followed by Kevin Staut (FRA) aboard Beau de Laubry Z (Bisquet Balou C x Nabab de Reve) in fifth in 62.26.

Earlier during the day, Germany's Daniel Deusser and Loui NL (Kannan x Cartani) won the CSI5*-W 1.45m €30,000 Idee Kaffee Prize – a class counting for the Longines Ranking Group D.

With a time of 52,81, Deusser took the win ahead of his compatriot Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) and Cous Cous (Cachas x Lasino) in second in 53.02, while Martin Fuchs (SUI) and Viper Z (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Grannus) placed third in 53.31. Mariano Martinez Bastida (ESP) and Belano v. Wijnhoeve Z (Berlin x Darco) finished fourth in 53.50, followed by Marvin Jüngel (GER) aboard DSP Kontendra S (Contendro I x Colestus) in fifth in 53.78.

“If you can win the first two competitions straight away, a show like this gets off to a great start and is definitely even more fun," the 42-old Deusser – who also won Thursday's CSI5*-W 1.45m Uvex Sport Prize with Gangster v/h Noddevelt (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Careful 28) – said in a press release from Partner Pferd Leipzig.

“I think it’s now time to try to win with him," Deusser said about Friday's winning ride, the 10-year-old Loui LN. "He did very well today! Hopefully he has learned more from this and is slowly getting used to the speed.”
